Spaceballs

In 1987, George worked on Predator, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, and Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs. On Spaceballs he’s credited in the makeup special-effects department, one name among a crew that included John Goodwin, Steve LaPorte, Ken Diaz, and Rick Lazzarini. ¹

Pizza the Hutt — Jabba reimagined as a talking, oozing pizza, voiced by Dom DeLuise — is the film’s largest makeup build. No source ties George specifically to it. Ken Diaz designed and supervised the build: a fiberglass undershell under a foam-latex skin dressed with real pepperoni, peppers, and olives, with warm batter pumped through internal tubing to stand in for melted cheese — a rig that ran hot enough during shooting that the suit started smoking between takes. It is straight comedy: dripping, organic texture turned toward a joke instead of a threat.
