Skip Schoolnik’s only directing credit is a straight slasher set overnight in a furniture showroom. It opened regionally in November 1987 and reached video in 1988, the year George’s shop built the Debbie Stevens cockroach transformation for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4. George is credited outright as special effects creator.
The signature kill is an elevator decapitation. On camera, a duplicate head and neck pump blood from the stump as the elevator car shears it off. The visible result is well attested; no crew account survives of the materials, blood delivery, or paint work. The sequence was trimmed to secure an R rating for theatrical release. The uncut version lived on through the unrated VHS until Code Red’s 2016 Blu-ray carried it as a VHS-sourced extra. Terror Vision’s 4K restoration later put the film back together uncut, with a making-of documentary, Shatterproof, among the extras.
The film has two other gags worth naming: a mannequin arm appears to punch through a character’s stomach, and a throat appliance bleeds during a stabbing. The sources do not describe their internal builds.
