Brian Yuzna made three Re-Animator films. This one, shot in Spain under his own Fantastic Factory label, is the last time he worked with George, who had been with him since Society, Bride of Re-Animator, Silent Night, Deadly Night 4, and Faust. George was the special makeup effects designer. Some secondary listings also give him an unspecified directing credit, but no primary source explains it, so it is not treated here as a confirmed directing role.
Two effects sequences define the film’s splatter-comedy register: a re-animated rat fighting a severed penis in a prison cell, and the corrupt warden mutating after he is injected with energy extracted from the rat. The first plays as an obscene puppet fight. The second moves from actor Simón Andreu in makeup to a creature form. At a 2014 exhibition talk, George described the warden effect as movement beneath the skin creeping toward the face from a central control point. That account is paraphrased from captions, not an audio-checked transcript. The surviving public credit supports George’s department role, not a shot-by-shot account of who built or operated each piece.
The material is comic and grubby, consistent with the Yuzna collaborations. No bench-by-bench account of the Barcelona shop survives.
